Thank you for showing an interest in Nahoa Outrigger Canoe Club! Experience the growing sport of outrigger canoeing. Come paddle the open ocean in a Polynesian canoe.

Nahoa OCC Welcomes paddlers during the off season: Saturdays, October through February.

Once the racing season starts in March, new paddlers are accepted only by approval of the Club President or Coach. During the off-season you can try out paddling, no commitment necessary. If you decide you enjoy NAHOA OCC and the sport of outrigger canoeing, winter fees are $60.00. Depending on how many people will be interested we may need to change the time to accommodate everyone! If you are expected than you will be informed. We take time off to do repairs and do maintenance on our equipment.

SCORA racing season is March through September; Monday & Wednesday evenings, Saturday mornings. We have 12 season races held on Saturdays, plus optional non-SCORA races.

Nahoa competes against 28 other outrigger teams from California and Arizona at locations between Avila Beach and Chula Vista, including optional events in Hawaii, Nevada, New York as well as different countries!

Come try our sport and get hooked on being outdoors, meeting new friends and enjoying a motivating new way to exercise!

No experience necessary, all workouts are facilitated by the coach &/or experienced veterans.  It is preferred that you currently do some form of exercise. You must be comfortable in the ocean, able to swim and tread water, and get into the canoe from the water properly. This means grabbing the gunnels, bringing your body up to the gunnels, and stepping into the canoe.  (Similar to getting out of a pool with no ladder).  Use of the leg to enter the canoe is not allowed due to injury/safety.

BRING: water, towel, and sunscreen.

DON'T BRING: Anything valuable or dear to you, such as jewelry, prescription glasses unless you have a tether, diamonds, rubies, etc. The ocean is deep and you don’t want you to lose anything!

WEAR: comfortable clothing, board or bike shorts, bathing suit or sportswear.

OPTIONAL WEAR (suggested): hat, visor, sunglasses, gloves, footwear, windbreaker, rash guard or capilene.

If you are interested, let the Coach know!

It helps me to organize the workout if we know who to expect! :o)

Mahalo for showing an interest!
